Give Every Pet a Chance at a Loving Home

Every year in Southern Oregon, thousands of cats and dogs suffer simply because their families can’t afford basic veterinary care. They’re not neglected. They’re loved. But love isn’t always enough when care is out of reach.

That’s where the Paws and Effect Fund steps in.

The Problem

  • Half of pet-owning families can’t afford a vet visit.
  • Local clinics are overbooked, leaving strays and ferals to multiply.
  • Shelters are overwhelmed, and euthanasia remains a tragic reality.

Unplanned litters. Abandonment. Suffering. It’s a heartbreaking cycle—and we’re breaking it.

The Solution

In March 2025, Friends of the Animals opened the FOTAS Community Spay & Neuter Clinic — a nonprofit, high-quality clinic in Medford dedicated to affordable care.

Now, we’ve launched the Paws and Effect Fund — a financial assistance program that allows income-qualified pet owners to fix their pets for just $25.

Meet JJ

JJ was found injured on the side of the highway—hit by a car and left to die. The shelter had no funds for his care. But thanks to our supporters, we gave JJ a second chance. We funded his leg amputation, placed him in a foster home, and are now paying for his neuter so he can finally be adopted into a forever family. JJ is one of hundreds of animals whose lives depend on this fund.
